The ability to enjoy art relates directly to how one receives and interprets information. For me, it’s all about the color. As I place brush to canvas and the colors converge, the experience creates a rush of joy and delight.
Some people want their art to be a literal representation of the subject. And while that can be amazingly beautiful: I paint for the pure emotion color brings to my life, so the literal interpretation is not as important to me. I am enamoured with texture, shape, light and color. They are always swirling In my imagination. I can’t get them on paper fast enough.
There are numerous styles of paintings. I prefer to see the brush strokes. I enjoy the energy of the fast, bold use of the brush or pallet knife.
I was trained as a watercolorist while attending Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS. For four years I studied numerous art mediums while obtaining my interior design degree with a minor in art history. I’ve continued my artistic education with classes held at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS under the tutelage of Wyatt Waters and Acrylic courses at Scottsdale Community College. And the journey continues.
